Upon the completion of a kinesiology practicum, in which I coached the grade 7 girls volleyball team, they gave me this plaque representing their success as a team. Normally the plaque remains in the school's trophy cabinet. However, the principal and the team wanted me to have this plate as a remembrance of the great success that the team had, and how much they valued the support I gave them in my role as a student coach. In terms of my teaching potential, I was able to mentor a group of girls who had no knowledge of the game of volleyball. I taught them how to play the game, and develop their confidence individually and as a team. Through their sins and losses, I supported them, which improved their confidence and self-esteem. I think these are critical attributes of a teacher. This practicum experience, and receiving the plague, enhanced my confidence in pursuing my goal as a teacher. I believe this belongs in my portfolio because it shows my passion for sports and show the patience I have when working with students in order to help they strive to the best of their potential.
