INTEGERS
This is a lesson that I thought in PS 2 where we were starting to talk about adding and subtracting integers. This lesson incorporated different activities that may not normally be found in a math class, one being an earthquake battle story to explain integer addition. With this activity, I demonstrated the ability to incorporate activities that are different within a math class along with incorporating topics from other subjects. Our next unit in science was planet earth where we talk about earthquakes and volcanos. These kinds of activities are important because students require a variety of different ways to see and learn a particular concept. With integer addition and subtraction being a new concept, this story allowed the students to grasp the idea that like signed values get stronger when they are added together and when they are faced with other values with a different sign there is a battle and one zaps another one-to-one. This also allows students to see that a negative value and a positive value cancels out. By doing this activity the students were able to act our different math scenarios which allowed them to work hands on with this concept. By working hands one some students can not say all because some students learn differently, but those that benefit from moving are able to understand the topic before it became more traditional learning. During this lesson after we incorporated a very hands-on style of learning I brought them back and we looked at it more visually. During this lesson I was able to get them up and moving around, thinking in different manors around math and science with the earthquakes. But also using different learning techniques that they may not have experienced before.

INTEGER REVIEW with JEPORDY
At the end of out Integers unit we had a review period in order for the students to get extra practice and ask questions on different concepts if they needed more clarification. During this class there was a vote as to whether they wanted to work by themselves on text questions and play jeopardy. At the start a majority wanted to to text questions and by the end I and more and more students as to play jeopardy. So, I decided that we would switch gears and play a round of jeopardy which was relevant to their review. I had created the jeopardy question in order to help benefit my students. During this game students where able to come up and pick their category and answer the questions that pertained to the category and level they picked. This I believe also satisfy KSA 10 as I have shown my students different ways in which we can work with concepts along with keeping it on the 21st century with the level of technology. Students strive from the ability to work with technology and get moving so I believe that this allowed that aspect to be mastered along with creating a fun, energetic, competitive environment for my students.

PATTERNS AND EXPRESSIONS
During my time with the Grade 7s I have been able to incorporate a significant amount of technology to provide the students with a diverse experience of traditional teaching and electronic teaching. Through my Patterns and Expressions unit when we where looking and variables and expression we needed to cover some definitions. When we discussing the definitions I had the students participate in more of a tradition learning setting where they wrote out the definition and examples, I did this because to me it is more beneficial for ones learning if they write out what they are learning. So, when it comes to definitions I can not just read it to them and it stick in their head they need the time to write it, read it, here it in order to remember it. Once we went through a definition the students would participate in a smart board activity where they had to sort items into different categories based on the particular definition that we had just covered. This activity got them thinking, it also got them up and moving and working with the concept and needing to take ownership for their understanding. I believe this is important had covers KSA 10 as it starts to incorporate technology into the classroom setting. During this lesson we also played a matching game however this was not using technology it again got them thinking and working together corporately in order for everyone to find a match.

This is a lesson that I created which utilized a form of instruction that was different to something I was use to. During this unit we were talking about evaluating expression using cups and counters. I feel that this is important to put in my portfolio as it demonstrates my ability to create lessons and utilize concepts that I have not experienced before in school. By providing this in by portfolio I am showing my ability to learn and adjust to the changes it the curriculum with a more visual component.
